Credit Report Results?

I’m in the process of running my credit report and I’m at the step now where I have to verify my identity by giving my account number for an open account I have. All I’ve got is an account with Wal-Mart but I see results for that plus an American express card and a Lord and Taylor account. I’ve had my suspicions about someone having my personal info in the past and am not sure what I should do now. I’m 19 and know very little about this.

Is it legal for someone to obtain my credit report for their use?

What can you do if you filled out your personal info to a fraudulent email?

My sis got an email, supposedly from her bank, asking for personal info. She filled it out, including her ssn. She later called the bank back and found out it was a fraud email. The bank then changed the account number. But now someone has her ssn. What could they do with the info? Is there anything she could do about it? Should she contact the credit reporting agencies?

How can I update my personal info with the credit bureaus?

How do I take care of this identity theft problem on my credit report?

I notified American Express of this fraud and asked them to investigate it, but all I got from them was an offer to settle the account for less, and also had a lawyer contact me. I filed a police report. I informed the lawyer of the fraud but he didn’t get back to me yet. Shoud I sue American Express for being negligent upon aproving credit in my name or send the police report to one of the national credit agency and see if they will take it off my record?

My ssn was phished but could the culprit obtain my spouse’s ssn by looking at my credit report?
