Dean

"one of the previous delinquent credit cards went to a lawyer firm and it was over 1,000. i just finished making the last payment last month and he said i was approved for a clear credit program, where they delete that one card from my credit report as if it never existed. compared to my previous delinquencies, will this help me or hurt me?"

Deleting a delinquent account will usually improve your score, if it was already closed.

Get that attorney's promise in writing. Spoken words are worthless.

The trade lines for the Original Creditor and for the Collection Agency must be removed 7, not 5, years after the charge off, and the charge-off date is at most 180 days after you first became delinquent.

To rebuild your credit, try for a secured credit card, for which you deposit enough cash to cover your credit limit. You can find offers at bankrate.com. Call the company and ask for all the fees you'll be charged up front, annually and monthly; they can be big, so compare cards. When you are issued a secured card, keep the balance at no more than 30% of your credit limit, else your FICO credit score will suffer. (Myth-buster: carrying a balance month-to-month and paying interest will NOT improve your score. It's better to make small charges each month and pay them off in full.) After six months of charges and ontime payments, ontime every time, your score will improve, and lenders may approve you for a non-secure card. Some secured cards can be converted to non-secure cards after 6 -12 months of good behavior: you can get your deposit back :)

Francis

I had problems just like you are having and here is what i did, i thought about going through debt consolidation but they charge outrages fees, since you are paid up on all credit cards except 1, you can do one of two things.First off all call the other 5 companies and ask them to change the late payment information on it since you are paid up to date, normally they do that as they have got there money and want to keep your business, if some of them do not do that, go ahead and get a credit report(get all three(there are a lot of websites that do 3:1 credit report) and it costs about $35, go ahead and appeal all the negative things you have on there but are paid and say they were never late(you can do it online),if the lender doesnt contact the buerau in 30 days they get deleted from you history, this is what happened on mine. It worked for me and it only costs you a few dollars and a couple hrs of your time.Good Luck with this,

Antonio

Bad credit is one of the worst problems to have... however there exists a solution.

I will hereby talk from my personal experience.

I did debt consolidation a couple of years ago, however If I had to do it again I would pay to some minor details,
if someone wants to get out of debt today it is pretty easy with a debt consolidation plan, however it may get a bit tricky at times, I suggest you get as much information as possible online on this first,

a good place to start in my humble opinion is astraight to the point ebook with question and answer I found :

if it helps kindly remember me in your voting!.. cheers!

Chester

Secured loans will do you a lot of good right now. It's takes time to mess up your credit and it takes time to fix it but it can be done. Not only that, there are some things you can do in the free time to help give your credit a boost. Such as a secured loan. Check out . There's a lot of info there.

Tammy

The only way you can re-build your credit now that no one wants to lend to you, is through a secured loan or line of credit. These need to be 100% secured with cash though.
