My FICO scores for 3 bureaus run from 740-755, which is not bad. However, I have a 30-day late from a department store credit card from about a year and a half ago that I’d like removed. I know how to go to credit bureaus to ask them to remove this if it is a mistake by the credit provider, but it’s not. It’s a valid entry – I just forgot to pay this one bill on time for one month when I had a lot of personal emergencies going on.

I have kept this account open and paid on time since this one mistake. If I go back to the credit card provider and explain that I have learned my lesson and have been a good customer since then, is it possible that they will remove this black mark from my account so that I can have the credit bureaus remove it?
